Memorial Day Ceremonies

On Behalf of Director Kat Miller

Join Us for Virtual Memorial Day Ceremonies

(Fernley & Boulder City, Nev.) - The annual flag placement and Memorial Day ceremonies put on by the Nevada Department of Veterans Services will be observed differently this year because of the COVID-19 public health crisis. Changes to the format will help ensure all those who wish to honor our fallen heroes are included and everyone remains safe.

Two videos will be released in observance of Memorial Day, May 25, to serve as virtual ceremonies and will take the place of large in-person gatherings. The virtual ceremonies will provide a safe way to observe the day so the sacrifices of the men and women who have served our country will still be remembered and honored, despite the circumstances.

One video will be focused on southern Nevada and one of northern Nevada, Each video will recognize and honor veterans of all eras and will feature notable veterans and figures within the community.

The videos will be available for viewing prior to Memorial Day on May 23.  Visit our website at www.veterans.nv.gov. Or, join us on Facebook by clicking the link below. While you are there, 'like' us and watch and share the videos! https://www.facebook.com/NevadaDepartmentofVeteransServices/

Our Veteran Memorial Cemeteries in Fernley and Boulder City remain open to the public for visitation. Social distancing is required, and wearing a mask is highly encouraged.
